James Bradshaw (b1816) was the son of the Rev John Bradshaw and his wife Tabitha, nee Browne of Brandesburton, Yorkshire. According to further details on the label verso, James Bradshaw was engaged in the East India Service and later a mariner, when he was drowned while trying to save the life of a friend.
