A pair of Indian sandalwood carvings of Vishnu manifested as the avatars Varaha and Kalki, 19th c, the finely carved figure of the crowned deity festooned with necklaces and bearing emblems flanked by foliage on breakfront base, 23cm h, retaining contemporary 19th c printed paper title labels  

Provenance: Acquired by Lieutenant General William George Gold (1800-1868) of Garthmyl Hall, Montgomeryshire, or a member of the Pryce family (to whom he was related by marriage) of Gunley Hall in the same county; thence by descent until sold in these 'rooms September 2012, lot 864, to the present vendor
