Colonel Sir Richard George Ellison C.V.O., (1831-1908), of Boultham Hall, Lincoln.
Capt Ellison acted as aide-de-camp to General Sir John Pennefather in the Crimea having served as a company commander in 47th (Lancashire) Regiment. According to Battalion records, he fought with great determination and showed leadership. He was present at Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol and the capture of Balaclava.
After his return from the Crimea, he became High Sherriff in 1886, a Deputy Lieutenant of the county and a Justice of the Peace. He was also Colonel of the 2nd Volunteer Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment, was appointed Ensign of the Body Guard of Yeoman of the Guard and was
knighted in 1907
