An illuminated vellum thanks of address, dated 9th November, 1944, presented to Councillor Joseph Plowman, the retiring mayor, by the then mayor Councillor Edgar Ernest Clements and other members of the city council, hand-scrivened in black, red and blue calligraphic script, the illuminated border enclosing an architectural vignettes, the leaf bound in an album of contemporary red morocco over bevelled boards, the upper-cover panelled in gilt with an Art Deco design and enclosing the municipal arms of the city in watercolour, original red cloth and fleece-lined clamshell case, folio (28.2 x 19.5cm)
