Ship's Carpenter Maurice John Marks (1888-1916) was born in Cleveland, Somerset, the son of a carpenter. He joined the Royal Navy in April 1915 and in September of that year posted to service to HMS "Nottingham". Marks was killed in the attack on the ship on 19th August 1916. Plymouth Naval Memorial
