AN UNUSUAL REGENCY TUNBRIDGE PAINTED WHITEWOOD CUBE TEA CADDY, C1815-20 painted to the lid and all four sides en grisaille with named views in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, in marbled borders, 12cm w and a contemporary George III floral painted satinwood and penwork tea caddy, the associated cover to the interior inscribed Ida Muriel Chamberlain a present from Mother 1934 (2)

The five views are identified as: La Sauveniere, La Geronstere, Le Tonnelet, La Cascade du Coo and Chaud Fontaine.

Painted whitewood caddy with much old wear and scratches, the brass lock an old replacement, the foil lined interior with central division and cover, the underside retaining traces of the original black paint. Satinwood caddy - lid slightly warped, the exterior heavily discoloured and in a blistered varnish with numerous old digs and scratches, lock and hinges original.
