English School, early 19th c - Portrait Miniature of the Reverend George Bossley, Vicar of Chesterfield and Rector of Clowne Derbyshire, watercolour and gum on card, oval, 90mm, later ebonised frame with acorn hanger

The Reverend George Bossley, the son of a timber merchant, William Bossley of Bakewell, was born in 1772. He married, firstly Mrs Edward Barton, widow and sister of Samuel Halifax, Bishop of St Asaph and secondly, Sarah, daughter of John Daintry of North Rode, Cheshire. George Bossley died on March 20th 1822 and was buried at St Mary of All Saints Church, Chesterfield.
