J 31858 Ordinary Seaman G E Barlow, HMS " Queen Mary". Died 31 May 1916 aged 18, Plymouth Naval Memorial.

HMS "Queen Mary" was built at Jarrow between 1911 and 1913. She was sunk during the Battle of Jutland (31 May - 1 June 1916) when her forward magazines were detonated by a shell from the German battle cruiser SMS Derflinger. Of the ships company 1286, there were only twenty survivors.
