Military Medal: London Gazette, 19 November 1917 "For gallantry when the Battalion was in the Cambrin left sub sector on 2/3rd September 1917 and Sgt Leadbeater was in charge of a working party. A 5.9 German shell dropped into a Stokes Mortar dump and two men of the Stokes Mortar battery were buried. The Stokes ammunition was exploding, but he continued to dig them out until they were released entirely, regardless of personal risk."
