Provenance: Mrs P Walker; W H Lane & Son Penzance, 20 July 1982, lot 220
With her husband Alex, Kay Walker founded the craft business Crysede in a cottage workshop in Newlyn. There they manufactured on a relatively small scale fine block printed silk in modern designs by Kay which were sold, or made up into garments by local women they employed for the purpose. The bold and bright artistic designs soon became very popular until personal and professional problems resulted in the firm's demise and eventual closure before World War Two
