Views of Japan, n.d. [c. 1870/80], a large format album of 49 albumen prints, most of the figural studies being hand-tinted, illustrating early Meiji period Japan, with traditional figures and dress, street scenes of real domestic life, architecture and landscapes, occasional spots of foxing and grime, only very infrequently affecting the photographs, mounted on thick card leaves, some of which are chipped and soiled in places, contemporary green quarter-morocco over boards, now split and disbound, royal folio (49 x 36.5cm).
