Provenance: 1) late 18th c nobleman's engraved armorial bookplate to pastedown; 2) Edward Denison, crested and lettered bookplate; presumably the bishop of Salisbury (1801-1854), rather than his son the East End philanthropist and MP for Newark (1840-1870); 3) The Reverend Ivan Mavor (d. 1967), member of the Scottish Episcopal Church; 3pp ALS, dated Westcott House, Cambridge, July 17th 1910, with observations on a Roman Catholic priest in Ireland and culminating in the presentation of this book to Tomkinson who presumably has 'gone to Wells by now [...] ', loosely-inserted type notes on St. Stephen's House, Oxford, writing paper.
