[Homer], Sive feras telis, hostes seu sternere ferro, invictus pugnis pugnus Achillis erat/So wol behertzte Feind, als wilde Thier zu fällen, dürfft der Achilles sich stets unbesiegt darstellen, first edition, Aug[ustæ] Vind[elicorum] [i.e. Augsburg]: Ieremias Wolff excud., 1721, title-page and plates numbered 1-14 as called for, engraved by Johann Baltahasar Probst after Victor Honoré Janssens, the plates trimmed within the platemark, tipped-in, and on the title-page leaf titled and annotated in manuscript by an early 19th c owner: The Life of Achilles/These are exceedingly spirited compositions, & sketched in a neat free style. The breadths of light & shadow are preserved in a masterly manner., some browned stains and grime, the series of engravings displayed in an early 18th c sombre morocco bound prayer-book, chipped and with worn losses, the foliate-rolled blind-panelled enclosing English royal crowns, hand-printed Dutch Baroque gilt and green endpapers, 4to
