Provenance: 1593 Pte. W . Henry Mo***, 1/1st S.N. Hussars [1st Battalion, South Nottinghamshire Hussars], 20/1*/1916; verso pastedown with dated presentation inscription in both Arabic and English manuscript.
During World War One, following the Gallipoli campaign in 1915, the 1st South Notts Hussars were evacuated to Egypt, before serving in Salonika [Thessaloniki]; regions of Ottoman control prior to the war and all potential homes for this Arabic Bible.
