One of Boulton's earliest types of 'Candle-Vase', examples are recorded with white marble, Blue John, gilt or enamelled copper bodies. The original design from Boulton's Pattern Book No 1, p.170, and a surviving pair are illustrated Goodison (Nicholas) - Matthew Boulton: Ormolu, plates 249 and 250

Somewhat dirty but in good unrestored condition. Inside one vase the body secured to the foot by a later screw / nut and washer
