A Derbyshire saltglazed brown stoneware loving cup, Chesterfield, dated 1797, the flared neck incised James & Elizabeth Stringfellow Augt 11 1797, the reverse and bulbous lower body impressed and incised with a simple floral pattern, 26cm h  

James Stringfellow (1747-1806) and his wife Elizabeth, nee Nuthall (1757-1798) were born and died at Chesterfield. The couple's son, William, was baptised at Chesterfield on the 21st April 1783
