A PAIR OF JAPANESE SILVER AND MIXED METALS VASES, MEIJI PERIOD finely carved and applied with cock and hen or two pheasants amidst bamboo beneath plantain or pine trees, on four lappet feet, 24cm h, engraved signature Katsuoki koku and gold Katsuoki seal, 47ozs 10dwts

Provenance: Purchased from Marks Antiques, London 2002.

There is not much known about the artist but it appears that he worked as an engraver and metal craftsman under Hata Zoroku III (1882-1944), Kyoto.
