A PAIR OF CAUGHLEY BLUE AND GILT PLATES AND A MATCHING SHELL SHAPED DESSERT DISH, 1792-95 decorated in the Dresden Flowers pattern, plate 20.5cm diam
The blue ground is weaker than on examples with Chamberlains' gilding. Compared to Chamberlains' flat gilded flower groups, these show a degree of three dimensional perspective with three small flowers on each side of the main groups suggesting a different decorator. Together they suggest a later date and factory decoration.
Dish chipped and broken and restuck, plates with slight wear
