Ellen May Murray Thompson (née Frew; 1889-1984), Art Nouveau artist and designer. Prior to her marriage to fellow artist John Murray Thompson RSA, Ellen was a noted commercial artist and illustrator, producing designs inspired by architectural ornament and creating decorative works - including ceramic commissions; some of her floral designs were produced in the decade following Charles Rennie Mackintosh's influential work in Glasgow. Both man and wife lived in Edinburgh, where John taught at the Edinburgh College of Art, and occasionally collaborated on children's book projects.
Good, untouched condition, lined canvas, with some light wear. Could benefit from a light clean.
