Sir Reginald Francis Douce Palgrave (1829-1904) Clerk of the House of Commons was the son of Sir Francis Palgrave and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of the banker and antiquary Dawson Turner FRS, FSA. Palgrave was a keen watercolourist and "...for an amateur an exceptionally skilful modeller in low relief" (source: DNB). He married, in 1857, Grace Battley. Palgrave was a cousin of Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker, for whom he modelled memorial tablets to Hooker's father, Sir William Jackson Hooker (1785-1865) and wife Francis (d.1874)
