POTTER, Helen Beatrix. Autograph letter, signed (Beatrix Heelis) to Elizabeth Tyson. Castle Cottage, Sawrey, July 14, 1933. Unpublished and unrecorded.
Bifolium (15 x 23cm), paper watermarked Wm Whiteley Ld, 2 pages, creased where folded
Charming and somewhat revealing letter to the local antique dealer
"I have lost count of what I am spending in your tempting show-room and although I shall presumably, be very well off when all the duties are paid (?!?) - I still have a careful mind.
Do please give me an idea of what it would come to - supposing I bought the oak desk and the blue Glasgow Cathedral as well?... I can get in the desk with some rearranging at Hill Top. I really don't know what the odds & ends mount up to. I like the clock face very much but I think it's as well you stopped Florrie's zealous cleaning."
Provenance: Elizabeth Tyson (1878-1970) thence by descent in her extended family to the present vendor
