Julia, Lady Gordon (née Bennet; 1772-1876), daughter of Richard Bennet of Northcourt Manor, Isle of Wight, married General Sir James Willoughby Gordon, 1st Baronet of the aforementioned house, in 1805. As a pupil of J.M.W. Turner Lady Gordon was a highly accomplished amateur artist in her own right, and friends with other leading English Romantic artists and patrons, including Thomas Girtin and Sir George Beaumont, Bt.
Hinge-mounted, protected with a loosely-inserted transparent layer. The sheet in good condition, with some signs of light handling.
