A CAUGHLEY SHANKED OVAL SUCRIER AND COVER, C1797-99 enamelled in sepia and gilt, 13cm h
Provenance: Mercury Antiques, London.
Exhibited: 1999, No 781; 2005, No 243.
From the same Caughley "Chamberlain style" moulds as the earlier sucrier (lot 76). This and lot 88 are the only known pieces in such a hard body. The decoration of sepia and gilt ovals is in the Chamberlain style; perhaps this example was part of Turner's white stock, sold at auction and later decorated elsewhere.
