According to a note in the family's possession, Gwen Salt, who was aged 11 at the time of the portrait, was "the mother of Dorothy Bassett of Caverswall. Frank Salt was her father and they ran the Post Office in Hollington. Mr Salt kept Tean Mills going after the First World War. He made a crystal radio set with Anthony Philips. The present portrait is a copy of the original given to Mrs Margaret Philips by Dorothy Bassett"
Good condition, unexamined out of the original late 19th / early 20th c ebonised and gilt frame. The portrait with several small spots of foxing, most noticeable on the sitter's forehead
