A short letter to the local antique dealer complaining of a cold and the weather

"I did not seem worth while doing anything about Dr Leeming's* sale; I telephoned and there was no view day at the residence and in any case I am indoors with another tiresome cold. The weather has changed so quickly from muggy weather to frost etc - it catches people. I expect I shall soon be alright again in a few days."

*Dr Robert Whineray Leeming MD (1859-1934) of Kendal where he practiced for 52 years succeeding his father who practiced for over 40 years. Father and son lived in the same house for nearly a century (source: BMJ Jan 12, 1935, p88)

Provenance: Elizabeth Tyson (1878-1970) thence by descent in her extended family to the present vendor
