Provenance: (By repute) a female acquaintance of David Lloyd George, OM, PC (1863-1945) The Prime Minster is said to have played the piano when he visited.
Thomas Tomkison (d 1853) traded from 55-57 Dean Street, Soho from 1799 until 1851. He enjoyed royal patronage, supplying the Prince Regent (later George IV) with several instruments, including a very fine ormolu mounted and brass inlaid grand piano for Brighton Pavilion, c1821. The lyre pedal frame of that piano is identical to that of the present example.
In dusty but basically complete and entirely original condition, two of the ivory keys snapped
