XIII., first Aldine edition, [Venice]: [Aldus Manutius the Elder], [May 1514], Aldine device on general and divisional title-pages, printed in Roman and Italic type, unadorned initials, lacking the book of Palladius and onwards, including the colophon leaf, otherwise complete, title-page and divisional title transposed, signatures collating aa-bb⁸, cc⁹, *⁸, a-h⁸, i⁴, k-z⁸, A-G⁸, in-text illustrations and diagrams, a generally well-margined copy, the lower-margin particularly broad, 18th/19th reader’s manuscript note to divisional title, infrequent marginalia, frequent underlining, signatures aa-a1 with partial water-stains to upper-fore-edge, signatures [s8] & t blemished, otherwise generally fresh and crisp, some of the last signatures toned and with a few speckled spots, 17th/18th calf boards, sympathetically repaired and rebacked, speckled edges, 8vo (20.2cm x 13.2cm), [Adams S805; Ahmanson-Murphy 121; Renouard 66:2].
