Provenance: Verso of NT title with 17th century and later genealogical manuscript notes viz. the marriage of William Boswell and Margaret Montgomery in 1690, their antecedents and descendants, one of whom, though not mentioned here, was Johnson's biographer and friend: James Boswell of Auchinleck; culminating elsewhere at Jane Douglas Boswell's Bible, 4 January 1829 ; ffep with manuscript pencil ownership inscription.
One of the earliest English Bibles deliberately to omit the Apocrypha from the list of biblical books, and '[p]robably the latest seventeenth-century issue of the Geneva Bible'.
