A pair of George II Rococo silver tea caddies and sugar box, the ogee caddies and oval ogee box of heavy gauge and crisply chased in high relief with flowers and rocaille, domed covers with shell finial, crested, 13cm h, by William Cripps, London 1744, 30oz, in the original crimson velvet lined and silver mounted kidney shaped fishskin covered case, the mounts apparently unmarked but for that to the escutcheon, IW a pellet between, perhaps John Woodward [Grimwade 1738]
Provenance: Acquired by the family of the present vendor in the 1960s

Sugar box and caddies fully marked underneath and in excellent condition. The cover of the sugar box with lion passant, the covers of the caddies unmarked. The case in good condition but on one hinge the upper part where originally secured by pins now with two screws. In exceptionally good condition, sold with an old, not the original key
