Recorded in Joanna Philips' notebook, c1845 (under statues and bronzes in the Hall): "2 bronzes - Paris - called The Marly Horses - Louis 14th had the group copied at Rome on the Monte Cabillo - these copies were first at Marly & subsequently after the destruction of the gardens there, they were moved to the Champs-Elysees"
Much old settled dust and grime, entirely original, complete and unrestored
