Webley & Scott Ltd. A fine and unusual 'suite' of air weapons, comprising Webley "Service" air rifle Mk II, No S 12208, patent Nos 371548 and 219872 and those of patents in four other countries (USA, Spain, Germany and Canada) with three barrels: .177 cal, No 41 (No 13179 on barrel register) .22 cal, No 52 (No 12208 on barrel register) and .25 cal No 1568 (on barrel), Webley Mk I air pistol, with .177 and .22 cal barrels and Webley "Junior" air pistol, each finely chased and engraved by Don Blocksidge, in three fitted, baize-lined and richly figured quarter veneered or burr walnut veneered cases, each with engraved gilt brass medallion to lid (3)

The master engraver Don Blocksidge (1932-2021), eminent in his field, began his career in 1946 as an apprentice engraver at Webley & Scott Ltd, leaving after twelve years to pursue an independent career
