1. Major David Cuningham, autograph letter signed, Stirling Castle, April 6th 1753, 1s a detailed request for clothing for "97 private men, 4 corporals, 2 drummers & 4 sergeants" and in addition, because "our Drums are very bad, so I wish you could order me two new Ones..."

2. Major General James Mure Campbell of Rowallan, 5th Earl of Loudoun (1726-1786) autograph letter signed, Edinburgh, March 16th, 1754, 1.5s, on various matters including the imminent General Election

3. The same Rowallan, May 4, 1754, letter signed also on the election "...Bailley Glen will certainly be at Ayre, but says he cannot travel in a wheel machine I shall send to him on munday and shall see to provide him in a horse if he wants one..."

4. Christopher D'Oyly (c1717-1795) First Clerk War Office, letter signed, War Office, August 27, 1763, 1s, about a deserter

5. Elizabeth, Lady Cathcart (1691-1789) letter signed, Tewin Water, May 6th, 1770, 1s, requesting a "way of applying for an Apartment in Summerset House or a small one in St James's Palace (taped tear)

6. Carrington, letter signed, War Office, October 30, 1770, 1s, concerning enlistment

7. Sir John Dalrymple (1726-1810) autograph letter in third person, ?place, April 5, 1771, 1s, entreating Loudoun's assistance on behalf of two young brothers and two other 18th century letters to the Countess of Loudoun, one from Mrs Fullarton of Fullarton Park (informing her that she has sent "six pounds of breakfast tea... the price is seven shillings and six pence per pound", and two enclosures (9)
