£250
A Scottish George III silver mounted cowrie shell snuff mull, c1790 with scalloped mount, crested, 75mm l
Provenance: Sold in these 'rooms 13 July 2000, £299
The crest is not that given by Fairbairn for Campbell of Glenfeochan. It and the initials probably relate to General Colin Campbell (1754-1814) Lieutenant Governor of Gibraltar
Light wear consistent with age, lid when closed opens about a millimetre as hinge very slightly sprained but this isn’t really noticeable. 3 minor old stained cracks in shell, two of which can be seen from exterior although again not very noticeable and obviously very old. Overall good condition and pleasing old patina and colour
