[KING JAMES FOLIO BIBLE] - THE HOLY BIBLE containing the Old Testament and The New. Newly Translated out of the originall Tongues: and with the former Translations diligently compared and revised, by His Majesties speciall commandment. Appointed to be read in Churches. London, printed by Robert Barker, printer to the Kings most Excellent Majestie: and by the assignes of John Bill, 1640. Folio, title within elaborate woodcut border, separate title to the New Testament dated 1639, printed in double columns in black letter, woodcut headings, tail-pieces and capitals, collation complete and as per the British Library copy, bound in 17th century reversed blind-panelled calf. The black letter text here is generally crisp and clean - there is some water-staining to the top of the final gatherings, corners dog-eared etc, but importantly this is a complete and unrestored copy of "the last of the folio editions in large black-letter printed between 1611 and 1640" (Darlow & Moule), and a rare survival.
