Asquith (Lady Cynthia, editor), The Ghost Book: Sixteen New Stories of the Uncanny, first edition, London: Hutchinson and Co. (Publishers) Ltd., n.d. [1926], half-title, some foxed spots in places as per, including the fore-edge, original publisher's pictorial cloth only, spine somewhat sunned, upper-cover with some minor stains, uncut, 8vo, [Tymn 4.244]; Crime Fiction: Wheatley (Dennis), three murder mystery plays, original wrappers, 4to, (4)

Provenance: Lamb Close House, Greasley, Nottinghamshire, the seat of the Barber baronets.

Asquith's first influential supernatural anthology, including works by Algernon Blackwood, L.P. Hartley, Mary Webb, Arthur Machen, and D.H. Lawrence. The latter making this copy something of a tangential association copy, the Barbers and Lamb House Close being inspirations in many of his Lawrence's works based in and around Eastwood.
