Bible. The Holy Bible, Containing the Old Testament and the New [...], [&] The Whole Book of Psalmes (sic) [...], London: Printed by Roger Daniel, 1654, etched and engraved general title-page, NT and Psalms with divisional letterpress titles, of which the former is dated 1653, double-column, Genesis with opening historiated initial of Adam and Eve, contemporaneously bound without Apocrypha (as per), extant signatures collating: ¶⁸, A-Z⁸, 2A-Z⁸, 3A-E⁸, 3F⁶; 3A-Q⁶; A-G⁶, H², general title-page (i.e. ¶1) chipped and with soiled loss, NT D1 lower-right corner repaired and affecting some letters of glosses and 2B8 detached, multiple quires of the NT split thus loosening, with uneven creased/folded edges, Psalms D1 lower-right corner torn, some toning throughout the whole book, occasional and varying water stains, mostly in and around the margin, when affecting text not resulting in any loss of sense, some dust soiling and toning, a few corner margins thinning, contemporary brown morocco binding over boards, possibly Scottish, the covers gilt and enclosing thistles, graduating double-fillet borders, rubbed and lightly scuffed, engraved silver clasp mounts only, the spine split, worn and peeling, corners bumped, all edges gilt, pastedown, pastedown papers lifting, 4to (24 x 18.5cm), [Herbert 642] 

Provenance: 1) Mary Holbrooke/Her Boocke (sic), contemporaneous ink MS inscription to recto pastedown. 2) Bought at a Sale at B*dford (?Bedford or Bradford)/March 1898, pencil inscription. 3) Bought at a Sale, Farnham, Surrey, about 1913. MS inscription.
