A George III walnut eight-day bracket clock, Francis Dorrell, London, the breakarched brass dial with matted centre, date aperture and kidney shaped signature reserve, silvered chapter ring and STRIKE/SILENT ring to the arch, pierced steel hands and replacement indicator, rococo spandrels, the movement with verge escapement and bob pendulum, the backplate engraved with chinoiseries and basket of flowers, in pagoda topped case with brass handle and ogee feet, 46cm h excluding handle

Movement overhauled and clean at the same time the case lightly repolished prior to purchase from R G Cave & Sons Ltd, Antique dealers, Ludlow, Shropshire in 1982 for £1650.
Please note there are two minor cracks to the case on the right hand side. The movement in working order, the lock to the rear door is attached but present. The Strike/Silent finger may be a replacement. There is some discolouration to the silvering of the chapter ring and other parts of the dial. Please note in the interests of full disclosure that a staff member of Mellors & Kirk has an interest in this lot being a relative of the original purchaser, now deceased.
