Provenance: Recorded in Julia Philips' notebook, c1845: "The Gamblers, a copy by Campinelli & bought at Rome in 1843. The original is in the [Colonna-] Scirra Palace at Rome & is by Michel Angelo Caravaggio".
The artist, Campanile of 46 Via Sistina is one of those listed in Murray's Handbook of Rome and it's Environs, 1869
